Men are chasing purpose and fulfilment

If You Don’t Value This.. Filfulment is almost unattainable

Over the weekend we had our Strong Men of Value Academy workshop. It’s one we open up for our members to connect, dive deeper into their mind & learn new skills.

Matt & Kara Saunders teaching Nutrition at The Man That Can Project

I personally learned a lot with the key learning being the theme for this week’s newsletter.

A lot of men are chasing purpose and fulfilment AKA they want to feel like they are useful and enjoying life.

A roadblock that goes unnoticed but has a significant impact is TIME.

How does TIME stop men experiencing purpose and fulfilment?

What is missing here is Value.

  • Do you value your time?

  • Do you think others value your time?

  • Do you value others time?

There will be mixed responses here but I urge you to be honest.

For me:

  • I value my time (but value upsetting others more)

  • I believe others value my time (but they take it for granted)

  • I value others time (But don’t demand enough from them)

These answers highlight a lot.

I shouldn’t have the “BUT”, however that is where I am currently at.

I Believe I should strive to value my time in priority of those 3 questions

  1. My time

  2. Others perception of my time

  3. Their time

Over the weekend we had most men fully commit to the workshop.

I valued my time to be at “100%“ for the workshop, they valued my time by showing up and contributing & I valued their time because of their actions and investment.

I believe that is a healthy relationship with ‘time’. Which leads to a mutual respect

There were a few blokes who I don't feel valued my time...

That may have been because they:

  • Had other priorities

  • Weren’t able to focus

Is that wrong?

NO... this ties into purpose and fulfilment.

Time flies and those who value theirs will live better lives.

So how do we do that and what does it look like.

1. Determine your priorities:

  • Identify what is most important to you and what you want to achieve.

  • Allocate your time, accordingly, focusing on high-priority tasks and activities.

2. Understand the opportunity cost:

  1. Every time you spend on one activity, you are giving up the opportunity to do something else.

  2. Consider the trade-offs and make conscious decisions about how you spend your time.

  3. Monitor and evaluate:

  • Keep track of how you spend your time and regularly assess whether your actions align with your priorities.

  • Adjust as needed to ensure that you are using your time effectively.

A great resource I have come across is the EisenHower Bo

How to Use It

  1. List all tasks: Start by listing everything you need to do.

  1. Categorise each task: Determine whether each task is important, urgent, both, or neither, and place it in the corresponding quadrant.

  1. Prioritise your tasks: Focus on completing tasks in Quadrant 1 first, then spend the majority of your time on Quadrant 2 tasks to prevent them from becoming urgent. Delegate or minimise tasks in Quadrant 3, and eliminate or drastically reduce time spent on Quadrant 4 tasks.

  1. Review and adjust: Regularly review your tasks and their classifications in the matrix, as priorities can change over time.

This may seem simple

However I found myself Busy being busy... I wasn’t getting the results I wanted.

This meant I was wasting time on the wrong things.

Valuing my time I was able to say no to people and things that didn't serve me.

I stopped multitasking because I had clear focus on what needed to happen, and I have been busy being productive.

I was a bit annoyed that these blokes weren’t valuing their time with me. I also recognise that has nothing to do with me and everything to do with their own priorities.

They want to grow

They want change

Right now is not the time for them.

If you don’t value your time, you will end up being surrounded by people who don’t value your time.

You will really struggle to find purpose and fulfilment in an environment like that.

Please take a few minutes to answers these questions.

This may give you insight to:

  • Grow your business

  • Improve your love life

  • Improve your health

You are only ONE NEW ACTION away from the results you desire.

See you next week.

I am travelling back to Nashville on Wednesday. I am looking forward to having more time to think and write.

Cheers
